The Graduate Employees Union’s new contract goes into effect today, and the union’s members will receive better wages and health care – issues that the union has been fighting for since its formation in 2001.

Deputy K. C. Epperson puts Sparty into a pen in the bite ward of the Ingham County Animal Control Shelter. The dog was accidentally let outside and bit two children. All dogs that bite a person and break the skin are required to be quarantined for 10 days either in the home or at the animal shelter to ensure that they do not have any diseases, such as rabies, that can be transferred to humans.
