The summer movie season is officially kicking off this weekend with the hype monster “The Scorpion King” hitting theaters nationwide. Yes, we all know the movie is probably going to suck. Yes, movies starring wrestlers are not very good - anyone who has seen one of Hulk Hogan’s flicks can testify to that.

But, we’re all suckers for it. Besides, week after week I tell people to check out some indie flick or arthouse movie, and how many of you do it? That’s right, very few.

No matter what I say, you’re all going to plop down your cash to see The Rock fight a war in ancient Egypt anyway. So, I’m joining in. We can all say that old bad movie catchphrase - “it was entertaining” - together, come Monday.

Besides, The Rock is a charmer, and I’m hoping he works out as a decent action hero, since Stallone and Schwarzenegger have both taken big slides into pure crap lately.

So, if you’re in the mood for some mindless action this weekend, head to “The Scorpion King.” It could turn out to be a fun one.
