After taking the women's basketball team to the NCAA championship game, head coach Joanne P. McCallie is getting a new contract.
The contract goes into effect July 1, and remains a five-year roll over deal that is now valued at $400,000 annually. With incentives, she could make as much as $500,000 a year. McCallie's base salary also increases to $225,000 next season from $183,805.
"Joanne is one of the nation's top coaches, and this package is designed to reward her for a job well done and to ensure stability in the program," MSU Athletics Director Ron Mason said in a statement.
She was named Associated Press Coach of the Year after leading the Spartans to a 33-4 record in her fifth season.
The Spartans finished the season ranked No. 2 in the nation, set school records for victories, Big Ten victories, longest winning streak and most nationally ranked teams beaten.
MSU also won its first Big Ten Tournament title and shared the league's regular-season title for the second time in school history.
