MIDDAY UPDATE: New information on mess in Hubbard Hall

April 7, 2006

Broken wooden chairs, torn newspapers, about nine 40-oz. bottles of beer and bulletin board papers lay strewn about North Hubbard Hall's ninth floor late Thursday night.

One bulletin board had been replaced by pornographic pictures and crude comments. The original bulletin board paper lay on the ground with an empty box of beer and a chunk of ham next to it.

On Thursday night, MSU police Officer Michael Aguilera said he couldn't give details of what happened, but when The State News asked to confirm the allegations that the mentor had gotten out of hand after being fired and urinated on the floor, Aguilera said, "yes."

But Hubbard Hall Complex Director Jason Kelleghan said a mentor who was fired was not involved in the incident as far as he knew. Kelleghan also said he didn't know of any urination.

Although the officer was seen questioning people on the floor Thursday night, it was not confirmed that the mentor was questioned, as The State News originally reported on its Web site early Friday.

There was about $400 in damage to chairs and a bulletin board, MSU police Sgt. Florene McGlothian-Taylor said, adding there are no suspects in the case, according to the original police report.
