WEB EXTRA: Rowing team victorious against Virginia
By Steve Highfield (Last updated: 08/28/09 6:22pm) The MSU rowing team took three out of four races Saturday against Virginia at Rivanna Reservoir in Virginia.The No. 13 MSU varsity eight completed the race in 6:35.5 to finish five seconds ahead of Virginia's varsity eight.
Joining the varsity eight with wins were the Spartans' varsity four and novice eight, with the only MSU loss going to the second varsity eight — which lost by less than two seconds.
On the season, the rowing team is 2-0 in head-to-head competition, and has earned two first place finishes and one second place finish in multi-team events.
The team hits the water again Saturday against Wisconsin and Iowa at Wisconsin.
