I must commend your paper on the recent article "Unlikely threat from China may not be improbable, far-fetched" (SN 1/22), by opinion columnist Pete Nichols. Typically, I will not read The State News because of its lacking coverage of subjects other than tattoos, fashion or beer pong, but I found Nichols' opinion on actual news to be quite insightful and refreshing in comparison to the usual opinion columns.

Naturally, some would argue that if college students wished to read opinions on these events, they would turn to higher sources such as The Economist or The New York Times, but I find Nichols' opinion fully encompassing the voice of the underrepresented college student. I look forward to reading Nichols' future columns.
