Is black too dark for you? Try MAC Cosmetics’ Wildfire nail polish which is black with a purple tinge to it. It’s subtle, yet elegant.

Its name may be Wildfire, but this season’s swankiest nail color is just plain cool.

Just in time for Halloween costumes and evening soirees, MAC Cosmetics unveiled its Smoke Signals collection, which bears the addictive polish.

With a black base and a purple shimmer, the color is what you’d expect to see on the fingers of Dita Von Teese and Billie Holiday alike.

A dark polish looks best on short nails, so for those of you with nail-biting problems, this is a great way to stop.

The cylinder-shaped bottle also makes for a high-tech manicure session, and like all MAC polishes, is $10.

Since the leaves are changing, your polish should too.

Pinks and blues should be put on temporary hiatus until after Christmas.

As the weather cools down, Wildfire is great, even if you aren’t trying.

One benefit of a darker nail polish is it acts as a great accessory to the rest of your outfit.

Slap on some rocker eyeliner and two coats of the polish, and you’re set to go.

Remember to not overdo your make-up when wearing a bold nail polish.

Unless you’re going for an Elvira look, compliment your polish with a cranberry gloss or dramatic eyeliner.

Luckily, the color doesn’t clash with green – making it an ideal addition to your tailgating wardrobe.

And since MAC nail polish is notorious for its staying power, the $10 splurge is worth it.
