Trustees approve $9.45 million in Holden Hall renovations

February 22, 2008

The MSU Board of Trustees approved all eight items on their action agenda today, including $9.45 million in space improvements for Holden Hall.

The renovations to Holden Hall will include a new community kitchen, upgraded classrooms, renovated common areas and security enhancements for the dormitories.

The security enhancements include plans for card-key access to living areas, including elevators.

“This is will be the first hall, it’s more of a experiment to see how it will work for us,” said Fred Poston, vice president for finance and operations.

MSU President Lou Anna K. Simon said the common space in Holden Hall would remain open to all students.

“It’s the living areas which require card access,” she said.
