Commission to discuss City Center II

March 25, 2008

The East Lansing Planning Commission will discuss revamped plans for City Center II, a $117 million project that could affect rental housing on the 300 block of Evergreen Avenue, at its meeting today.

The meeting will be at 7 p.m. tonight in Courtroom 2 of the 54-B District Court, 101 Linden St.

Project plans call for the demolition of rental housing along the 300 block of Evergreen Avenue, which would be replaced by a parking garage for the project’s mix of apartments, condominiums, offices and retail space.

Commission members will discuss changes made to the project, which include fewer parking spots and apartments and building a new hotel.

The changes were proposed by the developer in response to public input and the university’s decision not to move the MSU Museum as part of the project.

If the planning commission approves the project today, the plans will move to the City Council for approval.
