A bill that would pay an ASMSU official charged with sexual assault to continue planning the group’s $250,000 concert could be reviewed by at least one committees Thursday before a vote of approval.
ASMSU’s policy committee passed the bill during its March 13 meeting that would designate Nigel Scarlett, Student Assembly vice chairperson for external affairs, as the concert’s project manager.
Osman Elfaki, vice chairperson for student programming, said the bill could be sent back to a committee for review because of an unspecified technicality.
Elfaki said he may also motion to send the bill to ASMSU’s finance committee for review.
As it stands, the bill would allocate $3,500 from the $250,000 budget for the event to pay Scarlett. ASMSU allocates $6,912 per year for Scarlett’s salary.
