Younger driver deaths up in Mich.

Traffic deaths involving drivers aged 16 to 20 increased about 20 percent in 2007 when compared to 2006, according to information released Wednesday by the Office of Highway Safety Planning.

Fatal crashes involving drivers between the ages of 16 and 20 increased from 188 in 2006 to 227 in 2007.

Anne Readett, a representative for the Office of Highway Safety Planning, said while officials don’t know yet what caused the increase, they will be analyzing data to determine possible causes.
