Following a late meeting of the membership, the Graduate Employees Union approved a strike platform Wednesday to establish a list of the bedrock issues to be included in a new contract with the university.
With more than 210 members in attendance, the union voted to include a 5 percent wage increase, increased medical coverage and parking rights in the platform.
Other issues on the platform include medical coverage for one dependent, a 25 percent reduction in engineering fees, a $7,500 cap on prescription drugs and a reduction of co-payments on prescription drugs.
The union’s current contract expires May 15.
Some job actions also were approved, including a planned informational picket of the next MSU Board of Trustees meeting April 18. Actions such as a walkout and picketing graduation will not be voted on until later, union officials said.
