I think the author raises a good point about the purchasing of the hard hats, and I can take them blame as I purchased the hard hats with campaign funding we worked hard to raise. However, if the author would have attended the event, he would have noticed that we also set up car-pools for out of town students and the majority of MSU students took the CATA #1 to the event. We catered the event with local, organic food from Green River Cafe in East Lansing. We supported local churches by renting space to hold training sessions. We used recycled paper from Kinko’s for out lobby packets. One person came to the event in a biodiesel powered 1983 Mercedes. The author also should understand that this organization is entirely youth run and funded! We are not the Sierra Club or a large non-profit or corporation with a lot of resources. We have a very limited budget, that we have raised ourselves. If you are interested in supporting our work and making sure that something as terrible as purchasing green hard hats doesn’t happen again, why don’t you consider talking with our group, instead of calling us out through the State News?
