Marquise Gray to undergo knee surgery; out until June

By Sean Ely Originally Published: 04/01/08 6:06pm Modified: 04/01/08 11:06pm No comments

After tweaking his knee in the last few minutes of a Thursday practice in preparation for Friday’s men’s basketball contest against Memphis, junior forward Marquise Gray clocked just one minute of playing time in the Sweet 16 loss.

And it was released today by head coach Tom Izzo that Gray is expected to undergo knee surgery for a torn meniscus.

“It was the most freak thing you’ve ever seen,” Izzo said. “He just grabbed the ball and turned, nobody hit him, nobody touched him.”

Izzo said Gray is expected to be out until June, when he’ll be able to return to work out with the team.
