Car catches fire in garage
A maroon 1998 Chevrolet Monte Carlo parked in the ramp adjacent to the Communication Arts and Sciences Building was totaled Wednesday when it caught fire at about 9:45 a.m., MSU police Sgt. Florene McGlothian-Taylor said. Police were called to the ramp after someone smelled smoke. An officer arrived, and noticed flames coming from under the hood of the car, which belongs to a 29-year-old female MSU employee, McGlothian-Taylor said. The fire is believed to be an accident. East Lansing fire officials responded to the scene and extinguished the fire, McGlothian-Taylor said.
