Early Wednesday morning, Yahoo Sports posted a story indicating that MSU men’s basketball head coach Tom Izzo was a potential candidate for the Chicago Bulls coaching job, behind prime candidate Rick Carlisle.
But MSU assistant sports information director Matt Larson told The State News early this afternoon that this type of thing happens every year an NBA coaching job opens up.
The job opens, Izzo’s name is thrown around in rumors and nothing happens.
“The last two or three years, he never says ‘never’ to anything,” Larson said. “But at the same time, he says he has not been contacted.”
