News flash: Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama are not different.

When this stupid primary started, I seem to recall that being the general consensus. Disturbingly, a few months of verbal excrement from the candidates has severely polarized many Democratic voters.

Um, I support McCain (on the issues), does that make me racist or sexist or both?

Really, where does the SN find this people? If you don’t vote for Obama or Clinton you are racist or sexist? The only reason people that don’t like Clinton is that she is a “powerful woman”? Here is a crazy idea, instead of attacking people that don’t support Obama or Clinton’s ideas, try telling us what is so great about what they want to do and how you think it will help the country. Or you can just keep writing your “shiny attack” articles.

Bill & Ben,

I think you have misunderstood the point Mr. Reinstein tried to make. He is not saying that anybody who votes for McCain is racist/sexist…that would be absurd. The point he was making is that McCain will likely get more votes that predicted because there are sure to be many voters who will vote against Obama because of his race…a factor that is not discussed in media polls.

As to the Dem-Party becoming polarized…it seems to be, but we’ll see how it looks come October-November when it really counts

Tom W,

I am sure there will be people that do not vote for Obama because of his race, but the media has not neglected that. What they do neglect is the people that will vote FOR Obama because of his race. Which is apparently not racist.

Joel Reinstein is the stereotypical liberal college douche. The arrogance and pseudo-intellectualism in this column was almost enough to push me towards voting for McCain. I had to go torture myself with an hour of Fox News to balance out my disdain for both sides.

(I rarely agree with him, but Bill’s above post, the 2nd one, really is true)

Bill,

I don’t think the media has discounted at all that people will vote for Obama b/c of his race. The pundits frequently discuss the black vote with Obama (or the female vote for Hillary). But there will be a portion of the electorate who won’t vote for Obama because he’s black, but won’t publicly make those intentions known. Its along the lines of one “theory” i heard why obama did better with caucuses than Clinton—because its easier to be racist behind a closed curtain (i don’t buy into that). The question is how much of the electorate will behave that way…my guess is not enough to swing the election, but you never know

Affirmative action is reverse racism. We needed Proposal 2.

With Proposal 2, there is no more hiring based on skin color. That’s what ML King was all for!
