Festival to bring changes in traffic

The East Lansing Art Festival will cause parking and traffic to change as an expected 70,000-80,000 people will be flocking to downtown East Lansing this weekend.

Albert Avenue will not be open from Charles Street to Evergreen Avenue. M.A.C. Avenue will be closed from Grand River Avenue to Albert Avenue, and Abbot Road from Grand River Avenue to Linden Street will be closed.

The city of East Lansing recommends that festival attendees park in MSU’s Lot 91, located north of Service Road near the intersection of Service and Hagadorn roads, and take the Art Festival Route on the Capital Area Transportation Authority bus.

Parking in the lot will be free, and the bus route will cost 50 cents.

There will also be parking available in the city of East Lansing’s downtown parking ramps and selected parking lots.

Handicap parking will be along Albert Avenue at Evergreen Avenue, and at M.A.C. Avenue, just north of the Marriott Hotel, 300 M.A.C. Ave.

Free wheelchair rentals can be found at the art festival’s information booth.
