MSU student loses in Jeopardy! College Championship semifinals

By Nich Wolak (Last updated: 05/13/08 7:44pm)

The year 1215 will be forever ingrained in Tara Franey’s mind.

After missing a daily double question, Franey, a biosystems engineering senior, lost in the semifinals of the “2008 Jeopardy! College Championship” during an episode that aired May 12.

“I had a daily double and it was on the Magna Carta,” Franey said. “I should have gotten it; the Magna Carta was like the only thing that happened in 1215.”
The episode was taped April 12.

Danielle Zsenak, a student at Marquette University, was the episode’s winner.

“It was sad, and I wish I hadn’t (lost), but I had a good time,” Franey said. “I don’t think I embarrassed myself. I won $10,000.”
