Southbound lane changes as Abbot/Chandler construction progresses

May 19, 2008

As of 2 p.m. today, southbound traffic on Abbot/Chandler Road, between Lake Lansing and Coleman roads, will be shifted to the construction project’s newly paved east lane, which has been closed since January.

Northbound travelers will still be required to take the detour through nearby apartment complexes, since that lane will be in use by southbound traffic for the remainder of the construction.

The lane shift will remain in effect until August, when the project is estimated to be completed. This is ahead of the original October 2008 finish date. Once completed, Abbot/Chandler Road will be a four-lane, two-way road.
