Board of Trustees votes to increase tuition for 2008-09

The Board of Trustees voted to increase tuition for the 2008-09 school year by 6.8 percent for in-state undergraduate students at their meeting Friday.

“Academics is really what the key is,” said Trustee Donald Nugent. “If there are hard working students who show initiative and want to better themselves, we want them to get a good education.”

Tuition for graduate students and out-of-state undergraduates will increase 7.1 percent.

The recommendation was made assuming a 3 percent increase in state appropriations to the university, and could fluctuate up or down depending on what the state allots for higher education.
