Council votes to approve components of City Center II

Council unanimously approves site plan, permit, rezoning plans

June 18, 2008

The East Lansing City Council took the first step toward making City Center II a reality at its meeting Tuesday.

After months of discussion and public hearings, the Council unanimously approved the site plan, a special use permit for the height of the buildings and two rezoning plans.

However, the $116.4 million redevelopment project still has a long way to go, as the council still needs to discuss the development agreement and financial plans for the project.

“The process does not end tonight,” Mayor Vic Loomis said at the meeting.
