June 25, 2008

The Detroit Pistons’ Tayshaun Prince has been named to the U.S. men’s Olympic basketball team, The Associated Press reported Monday.

Prince will be part of a star-studded roster that features NBA MVP Kobe Bryant and forward LeBron James.

The trio will be joined by guards Deron Williams, Dwyane Wade, Michael Redd and Jason Kidd, forwards Carmelo Anthony, Carlos Boozer and Chris Bosh, and center Dwight Howard.

Duke’s Mike Krzyzewski will coach the squad, which opens play Aug. 10 against China.

Prince will the Pistons’ only representative on the Team USA. Teammate Chauncey Billups was invited, but decided not to play because of personal family issues.
