Granger receives award for ramp

June 10, 2008

MSU’s Grand River Avenue parking ramp earned Granger Construction Company the 2008 AON Build America Award for their involvement in the project.

Associated General Contractors of America named Granger Construction Company as the 2008 recipient for what is the most prestigious award in the construction industry, according to a news release.

Last year, AGC of Michigan awarded the company the 2007 Build Michigan Award for their involvement in the Grand River Avenue project.

Granger Construction Company was the only company from Michigan of the 17 companies honored nationally.

Some award criteria are degree of difficulty of the job, excellence in project management, innovation in construction techniques and sensitivity to the environment.

The Grand River Avenue structure blends in well with the architectural style of the historic campus. Visually, it has more in common with a dormitory than a parking ramp, according to the release.
