Matthew Macon, who was convicted in May of killing two women and assaulting another last summer, was sentenced to life in prison Wednesday.

Macon, 28, was found guilty on five counts, including two counts of first-degree murder and one count of assault with intent to commit murder.

Mike O’Briant, Macon’s attorney, said Macon plans on appealing his case.

He said Macon has 42 days to give the judge notice of his intent to appeal.

The first count of first-degree murder gave him the sentence of life without parole, according to a judicial assistant to Chief Judge William Collette who sentenced Macon.
