Senior rowers receive honors

Two MSU rowers were named All-Americans Saturday by Pocock Racing Shells and the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association.

Senior Anne Cowan was named to the first team and senior Joanna Brown was named to the second team.

Cowan was also named the rowing Big Ten Athlete of the Year, while both rowers were first-team All-Big Ten selections and members of the Academic All-Big Ten squad.

“It feels really good that they won the award because they led the team very well,” head coach Matt Weise said. “We wouldn’t have done as well as we did without them.”

This season, Cowan and Brown helped MSU capture a Big Ten title and place sixth out of 12 teams in the NCAA Championships.
