In a time of hardship in the Midwest, MSU and 11 other research universities from eight states will gather Thursday and Friday to discuss the economy.
Members of the Committee on Institutional Cooperation, or CIC, are hosting a summit on the Midwest economy with the Federal Reserve Banks of Minneapolis and Chicago.
Barbara McFadden Allen, director of CIC, said the summit is the first of its kind.
MSU President Lou Anna K. Simon will speak on Friday.
“In asking President Simon to address its economic development summit, the CIC is recognizing the imperative for a new level of multi-state cooperation in the Great Lakes area as well as her personal leadership in regional economic development,” said Paul Hunt, associate vice president for research and graduate studies.
