Potter Park Zoo officials hope for a stampede as Lansing-area residents are invited to participate in the zoo’s 18th Annual 5K Rhino Walk on June 14.
All proceeds will go to the Rhino Yard Expansion Project, expected to be completed by late 2009, which will add outdoor yards and a canopied viewing area to the current rhino yard.
The event will take runners, or walkers, through the zoo and on the Potter Park River Walk trail, with prizes to win in raffles at the end of the race. Sign-up is from 5:30-8 p.m. today at Playmakers Athletic Footwear, 2299 W. Grand River Ave., in Okemos, and before 8:30 a.m. on Saturday at the zoo, 1300 S. Pennsylvania Ave., in Lansing.
