Cable fault cuts power to 1,500 E.L. residents

July 16, 2008

About 1,500 East Lansing residents are without power this afternoon after an underground cable fault near the intersection of Albert and Charles streets, said Mark Nixon, spokesman for the Lansing Board of Water & Light.

“Circuits are kind of strange, they don’t necessarily cluster in one area,” he said. “There’s people along Albert (Street) without power, but also people on Hagadorn Road south of Grand River (Avenue) without power.”

The outage occurred around 3 p.m., and power is expected to be restored by 9 p.m. tonight, Nixon said.
