Reports that presumptive presidential candidates Sens. Barack Obama, D-Ill., and John McCain, R-Ariz., will appear in Michigan next week could not be confirmed by spokespeople from either campaign.

Sen. Debbie Stabenow, D-Mich., told The Detroit News that Obama will be in the Lansing area Wednesday. Obama spokespeople told The State News they are unaware of the senator’s plans past Sunday.

Reports from The Associated Press put McCain in Oakland County next week. A spokeswoman for McCain said his plans cannot be verified until 48 hours before.
