Museum displays letters to Nobel Peace Prize winner

The MSU Museum is celebrating Nelson Mandela’s 90th birthday with an exhibit of children’s letters at the Nelson Mandela National Museum in Mthatha, South Africa.

Museum director Kurt Dewhurst and folk art curator Marsha MacDowell are in South Africa to present “Dear Mr. Mandela, Dear Mrs. Parks: Children’s Letters, Global Lessons,” a collection of children’s letters sent to Mandela and Michigan civil rights icon Rosa Parks, to be presented Saturday at the Mandela museum.

Mandela, who celebrates his birthday today, received an honorary degree from MSU in May.
