An MSU arts and humanities sophomore who was convicted of a misdemeanor during the Cedar Fest riot was sentenced to 15 days in the Ingham County Jail Monday, according to the East Lansing Police Department.

George M. Fraser, 19, entered a plea of guilty last week on the charge of disorderly conduct for throwing a missile at a person or automobile during Cedar Fest.

Fraser was also required to pay $1,610.40 in fines, including $1,070.40 in restitution fees to the city of East Lansing.

Fraser is prohibited from enrolling into or entering any Michigan public community college or university campus for one year. He must go to school out of state or attend a private college until he can re-enroll at MSU, according to the East Lansing Police Department.

Fraser also was placed on probation for one year. He may receive a greater jail sentence if his probation is violated.

The communit college ban is pretty weak! However, he got exactly what he asked for. Enjoy your stay at Ingham County and don’t squeal like a pig.

Fact is, ELPD overreacts. Don’t believe me, look at the hearings about Cedar Fest 2005 where psychologists and sociologists testified that ELPD instigates these types of events and East Lansing, accordingly, overacts. Do you honestly think any of these kids didn’t recognize their mistake as soon as they were arrested?

ELPD and East Lansing overreacts to almost everything. Perhaps soon they’ll realize that paying retribution to society is best served with actual community service. Siting in a jail cell or staying away from college just uses tax payer money. Why not use them to educate incoming students about large gatherings? I’ll tell you the reason: the ELPD and East Lansing has very few shreds of intelligence. When will they use their intelligence? Only time will tell, but it’s not anytime soon.

This is scary. Really really scary stuff.

This is not justice, this is a vendetta, makes me ashamed to live in East Lansing.
