Monday voter deadline for Aug. primary

July 6, 2008

For students looking to vote in the Aug. 5 Michigan primary, Monday is the deadline to register.

Potential voters can register in person or by mail at their local county, city or township clerk’s office, or by visiting a Secretary of State branch office.

First-time voters who register through mail are required to appear in person when they go to vote.

Potential voters who have moved to a new city or township need to reregister to vote at either their local clerk’s office, a Secretary of State branch office, or through mail. The residential address used must be the same for both their driver’s license and voter registration.

Requirements include being a United States citizen, at least 18 years old by election day and a resident of both Michigan and the city or township of registration.

Voters can check if they are registered, or find a local clerk by visiting www.michigan.gov/vote.
