After traveling around the country, one of the co-owners of Flat, Black & Circular, Dave Bernath, saw stores selling music and thought he too could sell music. Since then, Flat, Black & Circular, 541 E. Grand River Ave., has been in business for 30 years.
“Music is a very important part of our life,” Bernath said. “You can talk music and meet interesting people. It’s a cross section; music knows no boundaries.”
The store sells and buys a variety of records, cassette tapes, CDs, VHS and DVDs. It is open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Thursday and Saturday. It is open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and are closed Sunday.
Bernath considers Flat, Black & Circular the “college of musical knowledge.”
“If you can’t find it, come here,” Bernath said. “If we don’t have it, we can find it for you.”
