Downtown Denver is busier than ever this week as Democratic National Convention activities take over the city, but colleges and universities in the downtown area look like ghost towns. The Auraria Higher Education Center, a campus for three higher education institutions in Denver, has completely shut down operations in anticipation of traffic and security issues caused by the convention.

Considering the fact that Denver has built a nice, huge, concertina wire enclosed detention facility for demonstrators at the Democratic National Convention, it sounds to me like this is just one more precaution to ensure that Denver 2008 is not a repeat of Chicago 1968. We certainly wouldn’t want those crazy, malcontent, Leftist student types stirring up trouble during the anointment of the messiah.

The Democrats have finally learned an important lesson from the Right-wing Authoritarians of the GOP: repression works.

The Dems shouldn’t have bothered. Considering the society they’ve seen growing up, young adults these days already know better than to question authority…

…unless, of course, they’re ordered to do so when it doesn’t matter.

This isnt repression. Their just keeping a lid on things, nipping it in the bud if you will. There’s nothing unreasonible about increased security especially when you have a bunch of beer crushing college students running around doing god knows what.

“Come evening, the prime players – Obama, Clinton, Gore – are gonna be traveling,” he said. “You’ll be driving along and all of a sudden the lights will go off and you’ll be pulled over and asked to remove your vehicle from the street.”

Make way for the royals. Why do they have any more right than someone else to be on the road? Oh yeah, they make the laws.

Denver simply doesn’t want to deal with those who differ from the All-Giving (except when he wants more of your taxes), All-merciful Messiah and his “wife” Michelle (Angela Davis) Obama (who was shameless enough to evoke sympathy for “the least of us” in her stunning oratory last night)nor doe the city want them to be seen as these two Agents of Change (yeah, right… with Biden & Kennedy) ascend into liberal heaven.
