The MSU field hockey team tied Michigan 2-2 in an exhibition game in Ann Arbor on Saturday.

Freshman forward Libby Liesveld scored first for the Spartans with senior forward Michelle Ciliberti netting the tying goal in the third period.

The team starts its season Saturday against Delaware in Louisville, Ky.

The Spartans return their top three scorers to a team that made the NCAA Tournament last season.

“This past spring was very crucial for us to continue our development, which we did, and I think this is the first season in my 10 years at MSU that we have more depth at every line and each position,” said head coach Rolf van de Kerkhof.
