Student faces charges for filing false police report
Tweet
MSU police plan to bring felony charges against an 18-year-old student who filed a false report of a Sept. 11 sexual assault near IM Sports-East, MSU police Sgt. Florene McGlothian-Taylor said.
The student, who filed the report Wednesday, said she had been assaulted in the wooded lot northwest of the IM building. She said the suspect told her he had a gun.
Further investigation found several inconsistencies in her story, McGlothian-Taylor said.
Students received an e-mail crime alert from MSU police Thursday, saying the woman had been sexually assaulted at gunpoint.

This is why so many women (and probably men too) don’t come forward with real sexual assault claims. The people who make false claims such as these are doing a disservice to anybody who could potentially be sexually assaulted in the future. It really is sad that people have to do this.

It is sad, but he libs have to inflate the statistics to make Americans feel that they are unsafe victims. That way they’ll be able to expand the nanny-state and their dreams of controlling every aspect of the private citizen’s life. The means justify the end to the socialists and if a little white-lie proliferates their agenda, who notices?

Uhh, where does the article say anything about liberals or conservatives? You’re claiming that a woman falsely reported a sexual assault just to inflate statistics because of her political views? I believe it was G.W. Bush who made a case for the war in Iraq based on false claims that they were involved with the 9/11 attacks. I believe it is the Republicans who claim that we’ll be a less-secure nation and most certainly be susceptible to foreign attacks if Obama is elected. One party does play off the fears of U.S. citizens, but it certainly isn’t the Democrats.
Oh, and by the way, the party supporting intrusion into people’s lives (such as eliminating a woman’s right to choose, and criminalizing the casual and harmless use of substances such as marijuana) is the Republican party. But don’t let the facts get in your way.

Please disregard Mary’s post, she is obviously a wackjob.

“Mary, what you’ve just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.”

Jeff,
The party trying to exagerate the extent of Rapes, and use it to infiltrate every aspect of life is the author of the “Violence Against Women Act”, AKA “VAWA” and now “I-VAWA” or “International VAWA”.
That person would be Veep candidate Joseph Biden.
If you believe that all abusers are men, then Biden’s your man.
If you have come to realize that statistics show women initiate slightly over 50% of domestic violence (as reported by women), then you might realize that Biden is no friend of any man.

Another false sex assualt claim is part of the reason why on-campus tailgating is so weak these days. About 5 years ago (sorry, don’t remember the exact year) there was a Saturday night football game against Notre Dame. ESPN was here and it was a pretty big deal. Tailgating at the tennis courts was HUGE. Anyway, a girl reported she was raped in a car right in the middle of the tailgate that evening. MSU admin had been looking for another way to crack down on tailgating, which had returned to the same level of craziness as back in the Munn Field riot days. Of course, after a few days, the girl admitted that she was just embarrassed that all her friends knew she was drunk and voluntarily hooked up in somebody’s car in plain sight. MSU still used the short-lived sex assault outrage to instigate many of the policies that have since crushed on-campus tailgating (7/9/1, no drinking games, etc).

The State News should make it a policy to print the name in bold font on the front page for people who make these fake charges. Considering they print the names of those charged (which i’m not saying they shouldn’t) they should put the names of those who file such terrible false charges. That way, maybe liars would think twice before filing such terrible false charges that make it so much harder for women who are actually assaulted to come forward.
Rape is one of the worst crimes there is. Falsely accusing someone of rape is also one of the worst crimes there is; it should be treated as such.
hmmm...

“statistics show women initiate slightly over 50% of domestic violence (as reported by women)”
First…,
Let’s think about what truly causes someone to get to an extreme point of violence in our lives. Has anyone ever actually made you angry enough where you would actually beat or rape someone? That someone making you angry would be the sole reason for you to rape someone? It’s never about the person “triggering” anger, or “deserving it”. It’s about the perpetrator needing control or other anger issues than just one person making them angry.
If that statistic was reported by women, consider a domestic violence survivor. Often they feel like it was “their fault”, they’ve been told millions of times that “they deserve it”, imagine the psychological impact that would have on someone with low self-esteem. Rarely does one admit that they are that our of control with their life to a point where they are being beaten. So, yeah, those words coming out of an abuse vicitms mouth is not surprising, and just because they said it doesn’t make it true. Consider that statment in the actual context of the situation.
Second, in response to the “false report”, it isn’t unusual that a rape survivor will retract their statement. They don’t want to deal with the embarrassment that society often places on a person in that position. I’m not saying this is necesarily the case, but if something like that ended up in the State news, all of a sudden the world knows you’re personal business, even the people you don’t want to know. The survivor could feel ashamed, scared, and her sense of privacy is even more violated. Less than 2% of reported sexual assasult cases are false, it’s unfortuante that only the “false” ones are publicized.

Tailgating took a HUGE hit when some girl said she was assaulted, and it turned out she was making it up. Yet, the administration didn’t do anything after she was exposed as a fraud. This should be a very serious crime, and she should do time for it, and get kicked out of MSU for life.
