E.L. Steve & Barry's to remain open

Steve & Barry’s has decided to keep its East Lansing store, 515 E. Grand River Ave., suite H, open after announcing earlier this week the store would close.
Six Michigan stores, including the East Lansing shop and the Meridian Mall location, were scheduled to close as the company downsizes.
Rachel Brenner, spokesperson for Steve & Barry’s, said the East Lansing community’s response has allowed the store to remain in business.
“The community response has been tremendous since the first rumors began that the Steve & Barry’s store at Michigan State University would close,” Brenner said. “Because of the enthusiasm from the community, we are pleased to announce that we have decided to keep our store at Michigan State University open.”
The Meridian Mall location is still expected to close, Brenner said.
The affordable clothing outfitter plans to downsize from 276 stores to about 170 after being bought out of bankruptcy in August.

Good Choice

Looks like Steve and Barry’s made a smart choice. Now if they would just restock the store like it used to be — packed to the brim with goods. Unlike the current set up where there is so much open space and less to choose from.
Good choice on the company’s part to keep the Grand River store open.
Agreed

I agree with you Good Choice! It is a good thing to see them staying open. I do hate, however, the other Steve and Barry’s have all become just discount clothiers with no college apparel. Its like all they sell now is the Sara Jessica Parker, Stephan Marbury, etc CRAP. Their business model was good, however poorly thought out in the long run… since they are now bankrupt [probably from selling leather jackets for just 19.99 :)]
Good move, its great to see businesses staying on Grand River! Unlike Gary’s Campus Barbershop :(

Now, now, those people who live in holes playing Magic and watching anime play an important role in society, preventing the GDP from becoming unnecessarily large.
