Amp Campbell had made hundreds of tackles while abiding by football’s golden defensive rule. Keep your head up. Every coach tells his defensive players the same rule. It’s like telling a basketball player to stay between your man and the basket or a baseball player to keep your eye on the ball. Tackling led him to East Lansing for a scholarship, all-conference recognition and a possible NFL career.

Amp, it was great to hear that you and your family are doing well. People like you make me very proud to be a Michigan State University Alum. Good luck in pursuing your dream of coaching back in Spartan Stadium. You are right, God has a plan for you and if you let him direct your foot steps, you will be rewarded beyond your wildest dreams. Go Green.

I was in Autzen Stadium with my step-son (his first college game)when the neck injury occured. Our hearts were in our throats. A year later, we watched the game on tv together, and both cheered our heads off. It’s good to hear Amp is doing well. Best wishes, young man!
