Man arraigned for bank robbery

September 4, 2008

A 48-year-old Lansing man was arraigned Thursday for his connection with two Lansing area bank robberies.

Douglas P. Bailey was arrested Wednesday afternoon on two charges of armed robbery. His charges were authorized Thursday morning by the Ingham County prosecutor’s office.

“It’s a fresh arrest,” East Lansing police Capt. Tom Johnstone said.

Bailey is accused of the Aug. 29 robbery of the Bank of America branch at 1390 W. Lake Lansing Road, and the July 2 robbery of the Citizens Bank branch at 2017 Lake Lansing Road in Lansing.

Bailey allegedly entered the Bank of America branch at 1:31 p.m. Aug. 29 and displayed a handgun before leaving with an undisclosed amount of money.

He was arraigned in East Lansing’s 54-B District Court with no bond.
