Hooray for the ObaMessiah! Only he can bring about Socialist change to America. We must crush the Capitalist Imperial system. Only then can we truly be equal when we remove ALL wealth from the rich and give it to the working class. Also, Israel must be destroyed….

I am a retired MSU Spartan (class 1964) who has realized this week with urgency that we have to throw out all of the bums currently running our government. When my Wachovia Bank of North Carolina, third largest in the nation, failed this past week and my native Belgian wife’s huge Fortis Bank failed in Brussels on the same day we found the majority of our retirement savings at serious risk. Thousands of Americans are feeling this economic collapse and contrary to media accounts, we are not afraid; we are very angry. This has never happened before in my 67 year lifetime until the current Republican Administration. But it did happen to my dad during the early 1930’s Republican Hoover Administration at the start of the Great Depression which became a worldwife calamity probably causing World War-II. We need to run the current bunch of fiscally incompetent Republicans out of town all over the nation. I like the way they did it in earlier American eras with tar and feathers, but I realize that would be illegal in our current culture.
So the Fall election slogan should not only be “Change” as Obama says, but it should also be “Throw the bums out.”

Maybe Mike maybe never heard of Social Security and Medicare, both of which are Socialist programs, change brought on because of dumb Hooveresque and Coolidge Republicanism. These programs were needed to help people survive, otherwise there could have been another Revolution.

I dont know… maybe Mike thinks Social Security is bad. That’s your opinion and you have that right. Don’t worry though… because of Republicans spending all of our money to help metropolitan Baghdad and MetroKabul instead of Metropolitan Boston or Metro Kansas City….there won’t be social security for you or me when we are in our late 60s.

Let’s hope Americans are smart enough to vote Democrat, and not dumb enough to vote for the fat elephants.

I’d love to meet people like Mike who don’t like Obama. Who do you want to be president? Jesus?

At this point I have resigned myself to the fact that this commie scum is going to win the election. I take comfort only in knowing that, had it not been for Jimmy Carter, there might not have been a Ronald Reagan. Hopefully Obama won’t actually go down to the national archives and literally put our Constitution through a paper shredder. One day I may want to look back on the document that outlined the rights we were supposed to have – and did have – before Barack Obama took office.

Why would I think otherwise considering it’s going to be broke before I’m old enough to collect on it?

Moreover, why would supporting Obama change that fact? How are increasing spending and cutting taxes going to reduce the deficit?

Jason you sound like Senator McCarthy and J Edgar Hoover. Calling obama a commie scum is hilarious. You hope that the constitution doesn’t get put through a paper shredder? Well my friend u are already a tad bit too late. Ever heard of the Patriot Act? Ever heard of the wire tapping the government can do now. Which is a violation of your basic fourth amendment rights. I also guess you’ve never heard of holding “enemy combantants” for years without ever telling them what crimes they’ve been charged with, and also failing to produce solid proof that they ever were indeed terrorist. I guess you’ve never heard of the Geneva Convention which stipulates how POW’s should be treated. Oh yeah I know you already forgot about ABU GHRAB huh? Since bush doesn’t know let me ask you a question. WHERE ARE THE WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION OR THE MASS AMOUNTS OF MOBILE ANTHRAX labs the threatend the safety of our nation? As you can see all of this was done under good old GEORGIE’s administration. HES THE BIGGEST COMMUNIST and the BIGGEST Threat to our safety at home and abroad.

The crux of the issue began when FDR took the US off the gold standard and turned the monetary system over to the Federal Reserve. Since then, our financial system has been manipulated, and not to the benefit of our citizens. This has been compounded by the insistence of the socialist “leaders” in Congress, i.e., Barney Frank and Chris Dodd, as well as Obama’s chief financial advisor, to demand subprime loans to people who did not have the income to pay a nickel toward the principle of the loan. Don’t blame the Republicans for this mess, it is and has been the socialist undercurrent in our government since Wilson that has eroded the fundamental principles of our economy. Yes, throw the bums out, but this must start with those who have damaged our economy and they aren’t conservatives.

Reality check: How about you take your social darwanism somewhere else. You have NO idea who was the rally and how dare you call working class people and people who are struggling to get through college and people who are losing everything as people who want a handout! I don’t call people who can’t find jobs in a depressed economy people who want a handout. This is the same social bull that the republicans where saying under hoover. I suggest you familiarize yourself with keyenesian economics bro. In case you didn’t know it helped save this country. Waiting for the market to fix itself will mean more americans will be without the basic.(PEOPLE WHO WORK FOR THE AMERICAN DREAM) I myself am a college student who has put myself through college. I push a dust mop till 2 in the morning at the physical plant just to pay for school. Ive cleaned feces and urine off of toilet stools for almost three years just so i can graduate in may. Yet I want a handout because obama wants to make higher education more affordable. If we can afford to give Georgia 1 BILLION dollars after their military conflict with russia(GWB did this by the way)don’t tell me we can’t make higher education more affordable to decent hard working american. But i guess thats socialist propaganda as well.

And to MAPMAN: The back drop of this issue does not have anything to with what FDR did back in the 30’s. This issue has everything to do with how the federal government sided with big business through such SUPREME COURT decisions as the Slaughterhouse Cases. From about the 1870’s till the complete decline of the market in 1929 Big Business was given complete control to run over the american worker. They were given total descretion and entrusted to do the right thing by us. As you can see that way of thinking failed miserably. If big business was regulated fm the beginning and not given total authority maybe the depression wouldn’t have hit America as hard.History has constantly proven that you cannot trust wall street and capitalism to run the country’s economy. What you and many people realize is the the social security and so called “socialist acts” FDR emplaced saved this country from complete and total anarchy. Look at what happened in France during their revolution. Matter a fact you don’t even have to look that far back..it is still going on in the world around us.

I need to say a few things, so bear with me.

Everyone always wants to blame Bush for the woes of the U.S. Lest we forget that it was the illustrious Bill Clinton that loosened the requirements for home loans from Fannie May and Freddie Mac. With them offering loans to people that we previously “under qualified” other banks had to follow suit to keep up with the market. The events of September 11th only accelerated the inevitable.

It is also Bill Clinton whose “record surpluses” decimated our military, thereby requiring billions of dollars to bring back to fully operational status. It was a political stunt that he knew would not be his responsibility to repair. Were there WMD’s in Iraq when we invaded? Maybe, maybe not. But, if you go back and watch the tapes of all of the Congressman on TV. Nearly EVERYONE believed that they were there. This was not George W. Bush telling them what to believe. This was the intelligence that we had. Everyone saw the same thing.

As much as Barack Obama would like to say he opposed the war, 1) he was a state senator at the time and really didn’t have a say on the national stage, and 2) the district that he was from was one of the most vocal against the war. Even if he was in favor of it on a personal level, he would have been foolish to speak out against it from a political standpoint.

In closing, before you go out and say “We need to vote for change” really take a look at the records of the 2 people running. Look through all of the BS and make an informed decision. Be a student of history, and not just a sheep that follows what you hear the suits say on TV or at some rally.

Jason,

I hope that you realize the irony of the ‘put the Constitution through a paper shredder’ line.

Which President has done more than any to severely increase executive power (the biggest fear of the framers of the document)?
Which party proposed the PATRIOT Act?
Which party has suspended the writ of habeas corpus twice?
Which President has largely ignored the IV-VI Amendments?
Which President violated the VII Amendment by officially allowing torture?
Which President ignored the X Amendment by temporarily seizing control of the National Guard (states’ rights, anyone)?

So tell me, Jason, how exactly is Obama going to ‘shred the Constitution’? More directly, why should anyone believe that the Constitution is under greater threat from the Democrats than the Republicans?

Got any specific examples? If not, shut the hell up.

Mike you might have said the smartest thing on here. To every presidential term there will be pros and cons. I stand with you and agree that the clinton presidency had cons. You are right people need to make an informed decsion not just take the politicians word at surface level.

Intelligence for the war in iraq: Mike i think you would agree that when saying that a strike on the U.S. is imminent your inteligence better be top notch. I can almost say with 99% certainty that there were NO WMDS. Mike we have been there 6 years. If WMD existed in the massive quantity’s as the administration said then why haven’t we found them. Better yet Iraq is known for its bitter insurgency. Don’t you think if these weapons existed the insurgents would have gotten ahold of them by now? If the insurgents had access to anthrax and all these chemical and biological weapons that they would have been using them against us by now. That would totally eliminate the need for suicide bombers.

At the heart of the matter is this. My cousin will be going to the front in about two weeks. Him dying is something that is not far from my mind or any other family member or friend of an involved serviceman. AS PRESIDENT you do not send people to war who willingly put their lives on the line for freedom unless you are 100% sure a threat exists. If my cousin does die i would like to know he died serving a purpose and not a failed political vendetta.

This is the hardest part for me because even inspite of OVERWHELMING Evidence that NO WMDs were present people continue to defend the policies of BUSH. How about we step aside from the democrat and republican partisan BS and get down to standing aside what is right or wrong. I would have more respect for republicans if they just admitted they were wrong. Don’t ever let anyone piss on you and tell you its raining outside. George W Bush is a proven deciever, and that is why Colin Powell stepped down after he was reelected. He had the courage to know that bush made him look like a fool!

The posters who worry so much about the commie scum and socialist taking over politically must come from the far right of the american nazi party to be so whiney. Yeh, maybe this all goes back to Wilson, actually Teddy R, but guess what? Had something not been done to stop the gross siphoning of wealth in this country there would have been a revolution. FDR came to the rescue again “betraying his class” as the shrill diatribes from the political right screamed at the time. The average American worked 10-12 hours a day for maybe a dollar a day. Their kids worked in mills (little fingers are better at lacing spindles ya know) and women, well they counted for very little if they couldn’t work in sweat shops. Most of you guys would not be in college in a pure capitalist society. The industrialist back then were sharks feeding on the working population. The fantasy of the “Golden Age” was just that. Most American worked hard for next to nothing while a small group put themselves up as an aristocrasy based on wealth. Today’s capitalist won’t be happy until we return to those bygone days of paying next to nothing in taxes and drilling wages down to .50 an hour. I keep hearing about redistribution of wealth. It has been redistributed from the middle class to corporate giants who function as monoplies. Oil and gas, drug companies, insurance, health care. Some of this has to come back to the middle or we are going to be in a major hurt. There needs to be a balance between capitalism and social needs, the extreme of either does not work. We are being sucked dry and our government needs to put in place measures to effectively deal with the basic problem. At least the Dems are offering something different as it is apparent that the approach in the last 7 years has failed miserably. My nightmare is that McCain gets elected and the whole thing really comes apart while he stares into the headlights and not because he’s a bad guy but because the same dorks who brought us GW are now running his campaign, Maverick indeed! Gotta go, my gruel is getting cold.

The one thing all of the liberals cant deny. In this country, you can blame and point your fingers at all of the capitalists you want, but YOU can be one also… Just take the chance, JUST LIKE THEY DID, start a company, work hard, and oh yea, PAY UNGODLY TAXES ON YOUR BUSINESS.Thats what makes America the greatest country in the world. NO!!! you want to be handed money for what??? because you have a right to my money? I don’t think so.You want to complain what a business pays? don’t work there. when the business cant find enough workers, he will have to raise his wages.

FDR came to the rescue again “betraying his class” as the shrill diatribes from the political right screamed at the time.

	—-

The best PhDs in economics do not agree on FDR’s role — and you think you know more than them? WRONG, WRONG, WRONG.

World War II saved the U.S. economy. Afterwards, Germany and Japan were in shambles, and the U.S. got fat, happy — and lazy. Just try to get a wall painted on campus.

Want to be Obama’s victim? Then you’ll always be his victim. Good luck.

OMG: I think you need to meet more people who benefit from these social programs than those who abuse them. Just because a system may need reform doesnt mean that it needs to go all together. Im going to give you a little personal testimony of mine.

WHen i was a child my mother was making the bare minumum wage of 4.75 at a daycare. She had me and my brother to take care of. My dad was a college student so money was totally pressed. There was not alot of money to go around and ill be honest and say we benefited from the food stamp and welfare programs. I didn’t like always having glasses that covered my whole face but i learned that when it was time for me to become an adult i needed to position myself so i would never have to be on welfare like my parents. Imagine if the help was never there. Where would i be today. I might now even be on the verge of graduation. What you guys need to realize that everybody who gets assistance doesn’t want a handout. THEY WANT HELP!! Help is something you get to sustain yourself until you don’t need it anymore. A handout is something you go and get because you feel no obligation to help advance your own circumstances. For every 1 of your alcoholic friends there are 10 people like myself, who use the help to become successful adults. Did you complain about your taxes going to fund an illegal war?

“ .. OH yeah you missed the total validity of my argument becaus (sic) you had to me synical (sic) like most social darwanists (sic) like yourself.”

	Calm down. Spell correctly.

“YOU are right…getting a degree doesnt’ (sic) guarnatee (sic) you a job..BUT IT DOES OPEN UP THE DOOR to a better life.”

Does it? Then why doesn’t MSU offer a guarantee? Answer: because often college degrees do NOT matter. And what about the 30% of incoming MSU freshmen who do NOT graduate within six years?

“Just because a degree doesn’t gurantee (sic) you a job, i (sic) guess you should just give up and not pursue an education and remain stagnate the rest of your life (,) huh?”

Calm down. The majority of self-made millionaires are people who own their own businesses. And a lot of them don’t have college degrees — only common sense. Something sorely missing at MSSU.

“ .. If so why did you go to college if it doesn’t gurantee you a job?”

What a dopey-butt question — GIRLS, GIRLS, GIRLS!!

God, how much simpler can it be?

No Proof at All: Actually most PHd’s in economics believe it was a combination of FDR’s keynesian model and WW2 which lifted the U.S. out of the Great Depression. You would be foolish to say either or did the job. Be forreal. 4 years of a war can’t totally make up for 12 years of a bad economy unless programs were already in place that helped put americans back to work.

Does anyone want to mention that John McCain pulled out of Michigan yesterday? McCain/Palin care about the middle class, except if they’re from Michigan apparently…

And if Obama is such a “commie/socialist” then so must be a large portion of Americans seeing as he’s leading not only in national polls, but in key battleground states like Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Florida. Even states like Indiana and Georgia are now being classified as “leaning McCain.” This isn’t even going to be close in November…

No Proof: I didn’t say the economy turned around, I said he saved the country from possible revolution by putting people back to work and offering hope when industrial America had nothing to contribute. I agree, the war saved everyones butt and I don’t presume to argue with the best economists I’ll let them argue among themselves about which side is right because if 5 say one thing another 6 say the polar opposite. Finding concensus between PhD’s in economics or most any other field that does not involve pure science is almost impossible. I have no desire to try and convince you or anyone else to change there views. By the way, if the unpainted wall bothers you so much why don’t you paint it? Waiting for someone of lesser breeding to do it for you, talk about lazy!! Dang, now my gruel really is cold, thanks alot!

Grip: I like how you judge the the success of economy by the standards of who is a millionaire. Go tell a millionaire that owns his own company would he hire someone to be his CEO that just has a hs diploma. You would get laughed out of his office. COLLEGE DEGREES MATTER! U can’t even dig a ditch without a hs diploma.

Oftentime college Degrees don’t matter? Only in cases like the ones you presribed. And sadly Grip…self made millionaires don’t reflect one fourth of this country’s population. You make no sense. And they are exceptions to the rule.

Grduation in six years means nothing. Ive been here 6 years but all i can afford is 12 credit hours a semester. If college was souly governed by the the will to finish most student would be out of here in four years. Sadly money plays a big deal, but you make more than 5 million dollars a year so that doesn’t effect you. LOL Do you know how many people could have went to top notch universities this year but had to settle for something a little bit more affordable? Probably not. You probably don’t leave your living room that much. A univesity is a business FIRST AND FOREMOST..if you don’t have the money who cares how smart you are?

Julious is right. Conservatives often use words like socialism and calling people radical liberals to prove a point. The truth is those words have a negative connotation and are used by the folks on Fox News to paint a picture of someone who is gonna raise your taxes and is soft when fighting wars. Words like these are used to raise fear that a democratic candidate can’t do a job in office. Here are the facts Bush has been in office for 8 years and has had 2 recessions during that time. Do you honestly believe that McCain is going to come in with the same economic polices and improve things? We have people calling Obama a socialist and a radical liberal so people forgot about the real issues. You can spin it anyway you want, but if the script was flipped people would demand the same accountability.

To Mike F: There is no “maybe, maybe not” when it comes to the question of whether there were WMDs in Iraq before we invaded. THERE WERE NOT, and Goerge W. Bush and Dick Cheney knew it (http://www.cnn.com/2006/US/04/23/cia.iraq/). They lied to the American people, and you still believe their lies. Or you “sorta” do, with your “maybe, maybe not” line. Quit hiding behind an ideology, and make a decision based on FACTS. Everyone can see that Palin is in over her head. Everyone can see that John McCain has been lost the last 2 weeks, saying one thing and then saying something completely opposite anywhere from a minute to a couple hours later. It’s time we had a President we can be proud of. I’m sick and tired of having a leader who bumbles around with no direction, stomps all over the Constitution, make the United States a laughingstock around the world (especially after the 2004 election), and leads us into crisis after crisis. Enough!

Excuse me but it is not the poor working sap that did not pay their mortgage, we worked hard to make our mortgage payment and if late we pay all the fees associated with that payment and dipped into our 401’s if we had to. I resent the implication that the mortgage crisis is our fault, what about Ed Mcmann and he had another rich man bail him out, who helps us?? It’s your professionals, Doctors, Lawyers, Accountants, bankers, etc., the ones who know their way around having to pay. Professionals who aren’t making the money they are used to in order to provide a stay at home trophy wife, foriegn cars, private schools for the kids, yatcht club dues because the poor working class sap living from pay to pay to make ends meet is not spending frivolous money on doctor’s appointments, lawsuits, bank fees and tax returns. We are happy with how we look, pay cash, love our neighbors, nurse our own family members and friends through illness, and do our own tax returns. We are sick, sick of being ripped off by the “Professionals”.

Grip: Thank you for not answering my question and showing how flawed your logic is. Im not a victim. Ive overcome. Seeing as though you probably really know nothing about hard work perseverance and dedication your opinion about me means ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. You can’t attack the logic i come at you with so you have to cry about typos. LOL LOL!! Since we shouldn’t vote for obama what should we do. You guys always are crying about why we shouldn’t vote for him. What is John Mccain offering that is better. Better yet why isn’t the presiding president even campaigning for him? Until you can answer the questions about any useful alternative john mccain is presenting..shut the hell up!

I think its funny that people like this also fell under the lable of commies
JIMI HENDRIX
JOHN LENNON
JIM MORRISSON
DR. MLK
BOBBY KENNEDY
If these are indeed commies i would feel honored to be on the list.

You still have fox news. How about John McCain is playing it smart by choosing who he has endorsing him. LAST TIME I CHECK FOX NEWS AND CNN reported that the president has a 70% DISPROVAL rating. THAT IS BY FAR THE LARGEST IN AMERICAN HISTORY!! HE even beat out LBJ..I thought that was impossible, but it seems as though your daddy found a way. There is nothing GEORGE BUSH can credibly say that the American people will believe. Its like a boy crying wolf. Soon or later people will be turned off to you all together. Vote, vote, vote. I am a grandma and not a student. I want to tell you that this is the most important election of your life. You are the ones who have to pay back the horrific debt the Bush administration has incurred and you are the ones who have to have to bury your peers in a war that never should have been.
