Cafeteria gets nailed in recent dessert mishap
Halloween decorating became less festive when an 18-year-old student found a metal nail wedged into her cake Oct. 24 in the Wilson Hall cafeteria, MSU police Sgt. Florene McGlothian-Taylor said.
The student found the nail when she bit into her dessert, but she was not harmed, McGlothian-Taylor said.
The woman reported the incident and cafeteria staff investigated. They said nails were out because they were being used to hang holiday decorations.
The incident is still under investigation.

The student was later found “hammered” in her dorm room.

Brings a whole new meaning to the phrase “getting nailed in the dorm.”
I just wonder why the police were even called, and why the incident is “under investigation”. Sounds like a careless accident to me.

Mike, we’re on a college campus. These places are like breading grounds for oversensitive types. It may have been a careless accident to your or me but the poor girl must have though someone was out to kill her. A bit loony yes, but its not entirely unexpected.

are you guys serious? this is serious because it could be some cafe workers idea of a prank. someone could have ingested a nail (if they were small enough) or anything else someone put into the cake batter. Also, who thinks its an accident that a nail ended up in a cake mix? wouldnt you think those were kept in two very different places. this is something that the police need to take very seriously.

From my experience working in the Holmes cafeteria, cakes are not made in the cafeterias. They actually come from the MSU Bakery. The report does not describe how the nail was wedged in the cake so it’s hard to tell if it was placed in the mix, or just fell on the cake and drove itself in.

Tampering w/ food with the intent to cause bodily harm is a federal offense which is why the cops were called. If it happens in a manufacturing facilty, the FBI can be involved.
End of story.
