Swenson earns Big Ten accolade

Football junior kicker Brett Swenson was named co-Big Ten Special Teams Player of the Week last week after he was a perfect 3-for-3 in field goal attempts in MSU’s 16-13 win over Iowa.

The Pompano Beach, Fla., native had field goals from 29 and 32 yards out in the second quarter before nailing a 25-yarder in the third quarter.

For the season, Swenson has made 12-of-13 field goals, with his only miss coming on his first attempt of the season.

He shared the award with Minnesota kicker Joel Monroe.

The last MSU player to win the award was kick returner Demond Williams on Oct. 31, 2005.

Swenson has been good. Kick-off team not good-other teams are getting big returns-needs to be addressed, also Hoyer needs work on his bad habit of drpping his left hand when receiving the snap-causes fumbles-bad tech..
