BTB Burrito closes its E.L. location

By Jeff Kanan (Last updated: 11/25/08 8:27pm)

A slow summer and difficult luck finding a new franchise owner forced BTB Burrito, 403 E. Grand River Ave., to close its doors Tuesday.

The taco and burrito shop’s co-owner, Luke Bostic, is graduating from MSU in May and the other co-owner has accepted a job outside the state.

Attempts to find a new franchise owner were unsuccessful, Bostic said.

BTB is a chain that began in Ann Arbor and operates three Ann Arbor locations. The East Lansing shop is the chain’s only other location, and it opened in August 2005, Bostic said.

Despite being unsuccessful in selling the franchise, the owners said they were able to sell the shop’s property and a new business is likely to open in January.

This solidifies the need to move out of Lansing.

Fellow MSU students..let’s not underestimate the severity of this situation. This is actually a legitimate reason to transfer to UofM. You know what I mean..don’t do it for the football, do it for the hard shell steak taco and chicken burrito. Doesn’t anybody feel the same way?

Haha I’m trying to figure out why on earth you would want to transfer to U of M for football. That might be the worst justification for transferring to U of M I’ve ever heard.

hahaha..absolutely..but I meant don’t transfer for the football (obviously nobody in their right mind would) but rather transfer because they have two (2, TWO) BTB’s on campus.

I could care less. Chipotle, Qdoba, and even panchero’s are significantly better. There is a reason that BTB is going out of business and these guys aren’t.

are you stupid? the article clearly states that ‘business’ had nothing to do with the shop closing. the owner and co-owner are leaving town and couldn’t find anyone to take it over.
BTB beats the hell out of Qdoba anyday.

BTB in Ann Arbor has a CANTINA (BAR!) omg. EL still > AA though. Too bad about the BTB closing here.

Absolutely true.

BTB was a actual local business (even though it was in AA). Now we are stuck with the big box of Qdoba, Panchero’s and Chipotle. East Lansing is slowly fading into the commercial once again.

With multiple Qdobas, Chipotle and Panchero’s it would be hard for this place to survive. It is EL’s doing that the Chipotle, BTB, and Qdoba do not serve alcohol as many others outside AA do as well.

I tried calling BTB to order dinner like 25 times last night and kept getting the disconnected message. I finally called the starbucks next door to ask them what was going on and they tol me BTB closed over vacation.

I CANNOT BELIEVE BTB CLOSED

BEST restaurant in EL by far and the ONLY place I would order from

R.I.P grade vegetarian nachos :*(
