MSU’s largest cafeteria is getting a face-lift in the next two years, as renovation plans for the Brody cafeteria are under way. Guy Procopio, associate director of auxiliary services, and Bruce Haskell, associate director for MSU Dining Services, presented a plan for “integrated dining” in the cafeteria — one of the largest in the world.

Sigh ANOTHER waste of our tuition money. If the food stinks, change the food, not the cafeteria!

That’s an interesting change. I’m surprised, but not really surprised at the complaint about the food … you can always find somebody to complain. I was there in ’02 and the food was not very good (it’s a dorm, what can you really expect?). But they made a number of changes in the subsequent years that I had heard went over really well and made the food much better. So I’m surprised they’re making more changes to it.

They aren’t changing the cafe because people complain the food sucks. (although it still kind of does.)

They are renovating the entire Brody Complex, and it just so happens that Brody Hall is first to go. Next on the list is Emmons.

I know this because I work in Brody.

BTW Lauren, the Brody building/complex is in DIRE need of renovation. The balconys attached to the buildings aren’t even safe to walk on anymore, there are numerous leaks all over the complex. It’s definitely not a waste of money instead of having the buildings fall apart on the students.

Lauren, room and board dollars goes towards renovations like this one not tuition dollars. Snyder Phillips is able to better prepare, cook and serve the same exact food that Brody receives due to their cafeteria renovation. A new food service upgrade, including a new dining room renovation, can only make things better in Brody.

I doubt you were born when when we could only have one serving of roast beef, Duke of Ribs, Johnny Marzetti (actually a pretty good entree), and Pizza Pup was the best Brody could serve. As times and tastes changed the cafeteria did not. In about two years, I can only bet that like the Gallery, students will line up to best dorm food on campus.

Once your kids come to campus you can tell them about how you had to suffer with all of the unlimited entrees, unlimited meal plans, omelets to order, six dessert selections at dinner, etc, etc, etc. I am sure they will feel sorry for all of your suffering.
