A 19-year-old Okemos man with no MSU affiliation was arrested Thursday after an attempted homicide at Club Meridian Apartments in Okemos, police said.
Frank Pulido, 20, was walking from the apartment’s clubhouse to his friends’ apartment when he was reportedly stabbed by David B. Fried, the suspect.
Fried ran after Pulido and assaulted him when he caught up, Pulido said.
“He said, ‘What’s up?’ I stopped and he put out the knife,” Pulido said.
Pulido was stabbed five times in the stomach and leg before the suspect ran away. Pulido said he did not recognize the assailant.
After the stabbing, Pulido walked to find friends who live in the complex and got their attention outside 2345 Club Meridian Drive.
His friends called his parents, who called the Meridian Township Police Department.
Meridian Township officers arrived outside the apartment at 8:27 p.m., and Pulido was transported by the Meridian Township EMS/Fire Department to Lansing’s Sparrow Hospital, said Don Lound, a sergeant with Meridian Township police.
Pulido was released from the hospital Friday.
Fried was charged Friday in Mason’s 55th District Court with one count of assault with intent to murder.
He is being held in the Ingham County Jail on a $150,000 bond.
There were about three or four police cars and the area was roped off to residents of the surrounding buildings most of Thursday night, communication junior Scott Bowersox said.
He and his friend arrived at the apartments between 9:30 p.m. and 10 p.m. and saw the emergency vehicles. Bowersox has lived at Club Meridian since December 2007 and said the area usually is pretty safe.
“Nothing’s ever happened since I’ve been here,” he said.
Residents had not received any notification of the stabbing from the apartment’s management Sunday afternoon, he said.
Apartment managers were not available for comment Sunday.
