Seniors head to MLS player combine
By Alex DiFilippo (Last updated: 01/12/09 8:11pm)Senior forward Doug DeMartin and senior defender David Hertel are in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., competing in the 2009 adidas Major League Soccer Player Combine.
Only 65 Division I seniors were selected to participate in the pre-draft event.
Both Spartans are looking to improve their stock before the 2009 MLS Draft, which takes place Thursday.
DeMartin and Hertel were both named to the first-team All-Big Ten and helped the Spartans to both the regular season and Big Ten Tournament titles.
DeMartin was named a second-team All-American and was selected as the Big Ten Player of the Year, while Hertel started 65 games during his four years at MSU.
