With heavy snow storms moving across the Midwest tonight, Mid-Michigan will be under a winter storm warning through Saturday evening.
Snow could fall as fast as 1 to 2 inches per hour throughout the day, with winds up to 20 mph causing drifting snow, according to the National Weather Service in Grand Rapids.
The heaviest snowfall is expected north of Interstate 96 throughout Saturday afternoon, with total snowfall expected between 5 to 8 inches, according to the weather service.
A winter storm warning means that severe winter weather conditions should be expected and that high amounts of snow can make travel dangerous.
