Campus Street Sportswear opens in place of Steve & Barry's

Steve & Barry’s’ successor in the building at 515 E. Grand River Ave., Campus Street Sportswear, opened its doors on Saturday.

Co-owner Daniel Switzer said the weekend was good for the start-up business.

“Business has been really good so far,” he said. “People seemed pretty excited.”

The company is offering a lot of savings on clothing left over from Steve & Barry’s, Switzer said.

“A lot of our inventory is on clearance,” he said. “We have a lot of things to get rid of so we can bring in new apparel.”

Included in the savings is an advertised buy one shirt for $12.98, get three free. The clearance deals will continue for about a month, Switzer said.

Switzer said it will be about two weeks before the store is fully stocked and the company will make regular rotations with new supplies. He also said the store will take student suggestions for new items.
