The deadline for entries into a recycled art exhibit for Lansing Mayor Virg Bernero’s Greater Lansing Go Green! Initiative has been extended until Friday.
The exhibit, which will celebrate Earth Day, will run from April 2-17 at Lansing City Hall, 124 W. Michigan Ave. It is meant to raise awareness about environmental issues by having featured artists create their works from recycled materials.
The exhibit is supported by the Arts Council of Greater Lansing, the city of Lansing Waste Reduction Services and Linking Lansing & U.
Artists from the Lansing area are eligible to submit their work. Those whose pieces are featured in the exhibit will compete for cash prizes. The top art piece will garner $300, second place will win $200 and third place will win $100. Artists who win honorable mention will receive gift certificates to downtown Lansing shops.
The exhibit will be available for public viewing during regular Lansing City Hall business hours, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. for the extent of the exhibit.
